FAQ's for Lou gehrig's Disease

My husband and I are believers on healing with nutrition. My husband's friend was diagnosed with this disease at the Mayo clinic just last Tuesday. Any help to alleviate the pain of this terrible disease? He is a heavy smoker and coffee drinker. I just want to help if they let me.

Our Answer

Here are some supplements that may be beneficial to those suffering with ALS.

  • Full Spectrum Nutrition....Liquid type is the best for best absorption
  • Coenzyme Q10, 100 mg (in an oil base for maximum absorption), 3 times per day
  • Methylcobalamin, 20 mg, 2-3 times a day
  • Vitamin C, 1000 mg 3 times a day
  • Vit. E, 800 units 3 times a day
  • Beta carotene, 20,000 units a day
  • Creatine, 5 grams a day on an empty stomach
  • Zinc, 30 mg with food.
  • Magnesium, 500 mg a day
  • Alpha-lipoic acid, 250 mg 2-3 times a day
  • Acetyl-L-carnitine, 3000 mg a day
  • Essential Fatty Acids, 2 grams a day
  • DHEA, 25 mg 3 times a day
  • Selenium 300 mcg a day
  • Grape-seed extract 100-300 mg a day
  • Pregnenolone, 50 mg 3 times a day

All of these have effects in protecting neurons and helping in neuro transmitting. There have been studies on many of these with ALS. Coenzyme Q10 was the most recent in 1998. The study is published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (1998;95).

The main thing to do first is to get on Full Spectrum Nutrition and add the Coenzyme Q10. Then he might want to supplement with more things as he goes.

We recommend Ultra Body Toddy for the full spectrum nutrition.

Good luck in helping him. It's nice of you to care enough to look into it for him. Hope he will feel the same as you and your husband do about health and nutrition! It can make a big difference in your life.
